Did you know that some dogs "smile"?! 😁

This is Hela, and she is putting on a big happy smile in this photo!

And YES, some dogs do smile - most animal behaviorists see this as an adaptive facial expression and behavior.
🎭 Dogs seem to display smiling as a social skill and expression of emotion.
🏆 Humans reward smiling when we react, laugh, give treats, pet, and clap. Dogs quickly learn there will be a positive reaction, so they will continue smiling in order to receive positive reinforcement!

BUT it’s important to know the difference between a “smile,” and some other facial expressions that may look similar but mean very different things. Remember, just because a dog is showing their teeth does not mean they are smiling. You have to read their body language.

In Hela's case, she showed us loose and open body language = pure happiness 😊🙌 !!!!

“While the facility is beautiful (the first time my husband saw it he came home raving about how we had stayed at many motels that were not as nice) the staff is what makes Canine Acres exceptional. The affection and care they provide each and every animal is heart warming. Even my extremely nervous boy loves it there. Communication after a stay or daycare is very thorough. Any time I have had a question regarding training, care, or feeding, Hope and the staff have done their best to help me. I feel blessed to have Canine Acres in my life.”

“What I love about Canine Acres is the care and attention the staff provides for my dogs and cat. The whole staff is friendly. They have groomed my dogs and cat and have done an excellent job. They come out looking perfect. They all LOVE to come to Canine Acres. They have fun and don’t want to come back home. LOL. I will continue to bringing them in for all their needs. Thank you for providing these services.”
