Question & Answers

What are your grooming business hours?
Monday – Friday: 7:30am-6:00pm. Grooming and bathing services are by appointment only.

How often should I have my pet groomed?
The frequency of a pet’s grooming needs depends greatly on the length and type of its coat. Scheduling appointments between 6-8 week intervals is recommended for the majority of pets. If you are trying to reduce shedding or own a pet with very long fur, a monthly schedule is encouraged. We recommend scheduling your pet’s next appointment at time of pick-up to maintain the desired length and style for your pet.

What if I’m late dropping off my pet for a grooming appointment?
If your pet is dropped off more than 30 minutes late for its scheduled grooming appointment, our groomers reserve the right to require the appointment to be rescheduled. If the groomer is still able to work the pet’s groom into their schedule that day, the owner must agree to wait for a call from the groomer saying their pet is done as well as pay the “Extended Stay Fee” if needed.

What are your policies for dropping off and picking up my pet for grooming?
Pets scheduled for a morning grooming appointment, if not picked up by 1:00 pm, will incur a $10 extended fee for additional care provided to your pet during that time. Pets scheduled for an afternoon grooming appointment, if checked in before 12:00 pm, will incur a $10 extended fee for additional care provided to your pet during that time.

What if my pet has mats?
It is very important to us at Canine Acres that your pet has a positive grooming experience with us. Brushing out mats can be very painful and unpleasant for pets and can cause challenging grooming behavior or aggression. Any heavily matted areas will be shaved to reduce discomfort. A geriatric pet or pet suffering from an allergy or skin irritation is often especially sensitive to any pulling of the hair. In this situation, the groomer reserves the right to make grooming decisions that are in the pet’s best interest.

What are your grooming rates?
Grooming rates are quoted by the weight of the pet. The quoted rates can be changed at any time at the groomer’s discretion for any of the following reasons: condition of the pet’s coat, fleas or wood ticks, geriatric fragility, difficult or aggressive behavior, and the detail of the requested groom.

How often should I have my dog’s nails trimmed?
We encourage monthly nail trims. This keeps the nail length comfortable for your dog and reduces the chance of the nail splitting or breaking. To help you maintain your pet’s nail health, we offer $10 nail trims every Tuesday, no appointment necessary.

My pet doesn’t need a complete groom or bath but there are some spots on my pet that I’d like cleaned up such as his eyes/face, sanitary area, and feet. Can you clean up some of those specific areas without booking a complete grooming for my pet?
Yes! There are many breeds that benefit from “touch-up” grooming services. These services help keep up some of those common “problem areas” that develop between grooming appointments. These services also benefit a pet that doesn’t require as much grooming up-keep but has one or more of those grooming needs.

Are there any restrictions to accepting my pet for grooming?
We reserve the right to  deny grooming services to pets lacking proof of vaccinations,  pets displaying signs of untreated or potentially contagious conditions, and/or aggressive or very difficult behavior. For safety reasons, we do not allow non-staff persons to stay while  your pet is being groomed.

How long does a grooming appointment take?
The average length of a grooming appointment is 4 hours. The size of the pet, condition and length of its coat, and  other factors  determine the length of the pet’s appointment.
