Puppy Class
6 weekly sessions (for puppies 8 months and younger)
This class will focus on socialization and the foundations of dog handling, thus enabling your dog to enjoy working with you as training continues. This class is a good option for those who own young dogs or who own dogs with anxiety that could benefit from a more relaxed setting. We will begin with setting boundaries, such as not jumping and not biting. We also will begin to work on basic obedience, such as sit, down, come, and loose-leash walking.
Beginners Obedience
6 weekly sessions (Limit 5 per class)
About this class: In this beginners obedience class, we will begin to work on cultivating your dog’s ability to perform. We will begin with fun games that will allow you to get your pup’s attention when it is necessary. The class will focus on developing and improving basic obedience principles, including heel, sit, down, wait, come, and stay. These are commands that many people use in day-to-day life with their dogs.
Intro to Rally
This class is best suited for dogs that have previously been through a basic obedience class (Limit 5 per class)
Rally is a fun way to work on obedience principles but in a more relaxed setting. Following different instructions as you go, you and your dog will work through a course together. We also will continue to learn new tasks as you move through the levels. An understanding of basic obedience is highly recommended to ensure that both you and your pup will benefit from and enjoy this class.
Advanced Beginners
This class is best suited for dogs that have previously been through a basic obedience class(Limit 5 per class)
The Advanced Beginners class is a recommended intermediate step towards working on commonly used obedience commands. As you move through this class, you will build trust and confidence in your dog’s execution of the commands you’re teaching.
One-on-One Classes
1 hour class by appointment
This class will be more personalized to fit the unique needs of your pet and you as a handler. While I can provide guidance with certain behavioral issues, I am more versed in obedience and competition training. If you have a dog that is people- or animal-aggressive, this may be a suitable option for you as it will prevent your pet from entering uncomfortable situations while allowing you to gain the training skills you desire. Hi, my name is Brianna. I grew up in Battle Lake and spent most of my time on my grandparents’ farm and in 4-H where I showed several livestock and non-livestock projects, including dogs. Now I live on that farm outside Battle Lake with my fiancé and five dogs: Holli, an American Cocker Spaniel; Remi, a chocolate Lab mix; Belle, a Golden Retriever; and my two Siberian Husky rescues, Luka and Tundra. In my spare time, I raise and show rabbits as well as raising goats and poultry.
I started training and showing dogs in 4-H at around 8-years old. When a new county trainer was needed, my mom assumed the duties as the head trainer. From the beginning, she brought me to dog training seminars conducted by experienced 4-H trainers. This is when my love for dog training began. Since then, as an assistant 4-H dog trainer, I have attended several dog training sessions and seminars. During my 4-H years, I trained and competed in Obedience, Rally, Agility, and Showmanship, for which I received many awards at both the county and state levels.
In my 13 years as a 4-H showman, I worked with several different breeds, including Mini Aussie, Border Collie, Blue Heeler, Labrador Retriever, West Highland Terrier, Siberian Husky, Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, Shetland Sheepdog, as well as others that I have worked with but not personally owned. During these years, I also have trained with a couple of dogs that had behavioral and aggressive issues. While I do not consider myself to be an expert in aggressive or behavioral training, I have worked alongside professionals and learned how to correct these behaviors in my own dogs.
Currently, I am training my three Siberian Huskies, Luka, Tundra, and Akira and my Samoyed, Freya, in AKC to work towards competing in Obedience, Rally, and Agility trials. When I am not training dogs for competitions, I am working to train Luka and Tundra for Skijoring and Dryland Racing. If you would like to learn more about these competitions, feel free to ask me any time!
Now that you know a bit about me, I am excited to learn more about you and your pets! I look forward to sharing my passion, knowledge, and expertise with the Fergus Falls community.
